Some Misc. Thoughts

#1. Not knowing what you are talking about

We received a comment last night and the author was correct, we are not going to read it. The simple reason for taking this action is that the parts we scanned were filled with false statements, lies, and a lack of knowledge of the situation they were addressing.

We may have been guilty of doing the same thing, so we are grateful for our education. The above problem comes from listening to lies, one side of the story, or what one wants to hear. We will not respond to such comments because we know the writer is not open-minded or willing to listen to the truth.

When Christians do this, we open ourselves up to many charges including bearing false witness, lying, and similar ones that undermine our credibility and the gospel’s message. We lose possible conversions because of it.

When the Bible says to get knowledge, it does not mean just any old knowledge will do. We are to go for the truth so we have credibility and know what we are talking about. Then unbelievers are more apt to listen to what we have to say about Jesus.

In evangelism having credibility opens a lot of ears and doors to the heart. When those doors open, we can plant seeds, water them and eventually bring in a harvest. Knowing the truth tells us that we are to lift Jesus higher and he will draw all men unto him.

He can’t do that when his followers do things like we described above or walk after false doctrines and sinful ideologies. Know the truth before you speak and you should see your confidence in yourselves and Christ grow.

#2. Objectivity

We have written about this many times before but it is an important lesson that needs to be learned. Scientists and science supporters loudly proclaim that they are very objective when they do their scientific experiments and construct their theories.

The reality is that this is not so. As Dr. Wm. Dever pointed out in his book Did God Have a Wife, on about page 82 or 83, there is no such thing as true objectivity. That statement is only true because God already taught us this in the bible when he said you can only serve one master.

If you are on one master’s side, then your views cannot be objective because they are influenced by the content of the master’s side you are on. Most scientists are not Christian and want to keep God out of the scientific labs and classrooms.

Thus, their work is not objective no matter how loudly they proclaim it is. Their work proclaims the content of the evil side they are on, not God’s side. They are blinded by unbelief and deception with no hope of getting to the truth in many areas of life.

Anyone can figure out gravity works, how water evaporates etc. To get to the truth of our origins, secular scientists are blind as bats and will never find the truth unless they are redeemed by Christ.

Even when Christians look at different topics, their views will be influenced by what they believe not by objective observation. If they do not have the truth, then there is no way their views will reflect the truth.

Christians need to learn God’s side of life and go for the truth. Jesus said it is obtainable and that declaration has not expired yet. The truth is God is right and unbelievers are wrong. The Bible is not in error unless someone who does not believe it decides to alter its content. That has happened too many times over the centuries.

When you listen to unbelievers, you will mess up your faith. Far too many good Christians have gone this route and then make all sorts of false accusations against Christ, God, and the Bible. Stick to finding and listening to the truth for in the end, the unbelievers have no say, no power, and no authority.

We do not please them, we please God.

#3. Attacks on believers

These are going to grow as unbelievers become bolder. Since we use the BG website we are using an example from that content here:

This is the latest installment in the Sacrilegious Humor series. This is a series that I would like readers to help me with. If you know of a comedy bit that is irreverent towards religion, makes fun of religion, pokes fun at sincerely held religious beliefs, or challenges the firmly held religious beliefs of others, please email me the name of the bit or a link to it.

The latest installment is using some comedy routine by George Carlin. We are well aware of his views on religion and Christianity, etc., and have listened to many of them. A militant atheist we know had one of his comments in his signature on an archaeology discussion forum we participated in years ago.

The problem with Mr. Carlin’s point of view is that he looks at the world after sin and corruption entered. Then he blames God for the problems everyone faces or has faced since the beginning of time.

Like most unbelievers and former Christians, he blames God for the mess even though God had nothing to do with the mess. Also like unbelievers and former Christians, he doe snot take the time to find the real criminal who is responsible for the mess the world is in.

They also do not honestly look at what God DID do. They ignore that like they ignore evil and accuse God of things he did not do while the real criminal gets off scot-free and is able to continue to deceive people and either ruin their faith or keep people from accepting Christ as their savior.

Number one, that is not fair and number two, that point of view is not honest. As you can see by that quote, the owner of that website is looking for more material to attack or encourage the attacking of believers.

That is not right either. If BG does not want to be a Christian, that is his choice. He should remain silent and not encourage others to follow his path or attack Christians. Christians are only trying to help unbelievers escape sin and hell.

That is not anything that someone should rise up and attack Christians and extension God, Jesus, and the Bible. Stopping spiritual aid to those in spiritual need is equal to some dictators who stopped food shipments destined to help their starving people.

There is no justification for his and other unbelievers’ attacks. Sadly, he and they just dig their own graves a lot deeper. Keep praying for these people that they will encounter Jesus in the right way and see the error of their efforts and accept Christ as their savior.

#4. Christian & Politics

We will just say a few words here using one example of why Christians can be in politics under current rules. The verse ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ applies to all political candidates.

Christians have a moral guide to help them when they are in office and this is one of the bigger ones. Government is better when Christians honestly and humbly follow this verse and keep to its true spiritual meaning.

It is not permission to sin against people but an admonition to treat others better. When you put it together with other biblical instructions and commands, one becomes wiser and knows how to speak and act in all political situations.
