Christians Are Not Objective 2

As we explained in our previous article on this topic, Christians have chosen a side and they cannot be truly objective. Their thoughts and actions must coincide with God and scripture as that is the side they are on.

As God said in the Bible, there are only two sides to life. Obviously, one can be objective when refereeing a disagreement between two people. That is not the objectivity we are talking about. Nor were Drs. Dever and Dr. Orr in the book Did God Have a Wife.

But true to form, certain unbelievers took offense to our content in the previous article and misrepresented what was said. One even quoted the Mirriam-Webster Dictionary which says:

the quality or character of being objective : lack of favoritism toward one side or another : freedom from bias (source)

But when one limits the definition to just what the dictionary says, one distorts what takes place in life. When one becomes a Christian, one cannot lack favoritism towards one’s faith. If they do, they put their faith at risk and elevate false teaching to the same level as the truth.

That cannot be as false teaching is never true no matter who teaches it. The Bible does not teach anyone to do this. As we said in that previous article, the time for Christians to be objective and lack favoritism towards one side or the other is before they become a Christian.

All the arguments for and against Christianity should have been done prior to accepting Christ as one’s savior. The doubts should have been dealt with before that decision. We are reminded of what Billy Graham did before he became an evangelist.

He went to a private area and dealt with any doubts about the reality of God before he began preaching. Once God made himself real to Mr. Graham, he began to preach. He did not do this after his career in evangelism was in full swing.

Christians should not be doubting their faith AFTER they become Christians. Like Mr. Graham, they should have dealt with their issues before receiving salvation. Then they favor Christianity over every other alternative and false argument.

The second part of that definition does not apply to the believer. They are not free from bias for that would mean that they do not consider their Christian faith to be true. They have let the idea that the unbeliever is speaking truth when they are not.

Once the unbeliever lets doubt in, more often than not, they lose their faith. The reason is that they have given evil an opening to do its destructive work. A prime example of this fact is BG himself. Once he started questioning his faith, and reading unbelievers, taking their words over God’s, it was just a matter of time before he lost his faith.

But there is another definition to the term objectivity that needs to be considered and addressed:

the fact of being based on facts and not influenced by personal beliefs or feelings (source)

The issue of the term ‘facts’ is the problem. The term facts means different things to different people. For the unbeliever, science provides the majority of ‘facts’ and the Bible is mere myth. For the believer, the Bible presents all the facts while science does not present facts on topics outside of its scope.

Yes, science can discover and present facts on how nature works, how minerals come together and form different products, how to grow food, and so on. Those areas of life are well within the scope of science.

But science does not get to all the facts. As we have stated in other articles, science is about coming to the best explanation. The scientists are taking observations, predictions, and other factors and trying to find the best explanation for their development or existence.

However, the best explanation is neither facts nor truth. The explanations provided by scientists may be based on some facts but do not comprise facts at all. They are what the scientists possibly believe took place not what really took place.

There is a big difference between scientific beliefs and true facts. Science is not about coming to the truth. If it was, then scientists would have to turn their attention to more important issues and try to solve them instead of wasting everyone’s time and resources pursuing false ideologies and theories.

The unbeliever may dismiss the Bible as a myth or belief, for the reason science has not proven anything concerning certain areas of the Bible. However, science is not the field of research God set up to confirm his words.

God did not set up any research field in life to act as an authority that determines if he did his actions or not. That elevation was secular man’s distortion of science and other research fields.

We do not need science to confirm what God has done. We just need faith and take God at his word. The Bible is fact, not myth. When you read scientists’ conclusions, especially archaeologists and anthropologists, you will see that their theories and conclusions lie on the side of belief not fact.

Their conclusions, etc., are based on their pre-determined beliefs and feelings not the truth. That position means that secular scientists are not being objective either. As the book, Dismantling the Big Bang points out:

the assumptions you begin with determine the conclusions you come to (pg. 16)

Evolutionary and Big Bang scientists start with the assumption their pet theories are true. Thus all of their results ratify those pre-drawn beliefs. True objectivity would not allow that to happen. True objectivity would not bias their experiments by saying ‘If evolution were true…’

That approach to scientific experiments corrupts the experiment and results. They have created a presupposition and all of the information they derive from those experiments supports that presupposition excluding any possible alternative form producing the same results.

The facts used by unbelievers in their ‘objective’ arguments are not objective facts but manipulated information to hide from the truth of the Bible. The unbelievers are not free from bias nor do they lack favoritism of one side.

Christians should not fall for this trap. They should not let the unbeliever convince them to put aside their beliefs and look at things from an objective viewpoint. This is one reason we do not like Christian politicians who say they put their beliefs aside when they govern.

They lose all of the truth their beliefs provide and lose God’s help in the process. They are saying the unbeliever knows best and is following unbelievers, not God. God does not teach his followers to put their beliefs aside when they discuss with unbelievers or govern at any level.

We cannot be the light unto a dark world when that is done. The Bible teaches us to get wisdom, understanding, and knowledge, as well as not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly. That means we cannot be objective after we become Christians.

We have found the truth and the facts and must broadcast those to everyone. When science (or any research field or industry) disagrees with God and the Bible, it is science that is wrong.

Christians cannot be objective because they were given a mandate by Christ to spread the gospel and make disciples of everyone. You cannot make disciples when you become objective and undermine your mission.

Jesus told us we will know the truth and that is what we present at all times. We do not switch to being objective because that allows the truth to be hidden and lies to prevail.
