We just have one more thing to add to our previous post. For those people who do not think the OT applies to this age of Grace, they need to think again. The command to not bear false witness is also found in the NT.
Paul made it very clear when he said in Colossians 3:9:
Do not lie to one another, since you stripped off the old self with its evil practices,
That makes Jesus’ point very clear. Again, you will see no escape clauses for sexual or other types of abuse. James 3:14 has this to say:
But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.
This instruction goes for the accused, the accuser, and all those involved either as participants or observers. We do not bear false witness even if we want to hurt someone for what they did.
Hurting someone through false legal or other actions is not biblical teaching either.
