We knew someone would disagree with our viewpoint. We also knew that BG would be the one and also be the one to ignore all the instructions we placed at the beginning of Part One. Why he posted a response we do not know as he is not familiar with what took place 40 years ago, yet he had this to say:

No criminal charges were filed against Morris, or the church — who knew about Morris’ crimes and swept them under the proverbial rug. The girl’s father did the same, thinking the church would properly and sufficiently deal with the matter. After a short hiatus from preaching, Morris returned to preaching.

Even if this was possibly true, this information was not included in any of the articles we read on the topic. Amazingly, he can draw such conclusions with no private information at his disposal.

If one reads Part One correctly and follows the instructions, they would see that we did not defend anyone but BG has to get his insulting kicks in as well as make faulty accusations:

What Are We to Make of an Evangelical Preacher Who Defends a Pastor Who Sexually Assaulted a Twelve-Year-Old Girl?

Our comments were strictly in defense of justice, not the vigilante-style that BG supports. 40+ years and no real verifiable evidence puts the accuser and the accusation under suspicion. The accuser is not 12 anymore but 54 so we are not attacking or critiquing a child.

We are addressing a 54-year-old’s accusations which should keep everything in perspective. Too many people like BG will focus on the number 12 instead of dealing with the real issue. It is not a 12-year-old child accusing someone within 1 year of the behavior.

Too many years have passed for this accusation to be taken at face value. Also, we have to ask why did she wait 40+ years before making her accusation? She could have done it at age 20, 25, 30, 35,40, and any year in between.

Yet she waits which also places her accusation under suspicion. But BG and others ignore this fact in their haste to condemn and judge someone they do not know. All because he is a Pastor of some sort.

That’s right,… said the age of the girl was immaterial. According to …, just because Morris repeatedly assaulted the girl doesn’t mean he’s a pedophile. He was what, then, a poor misguided man who couldn’t keep himself from putting his hands on the girl’s private parts?

It is rhetoric like this we were warning about in Part One. That kind of attitude only perverts justice and undermines any positive effect it could have. Of course, instead of discussing the topic that we talked about, BG has to make it personal by using our name three times in the same paragraph.

He is not interested in justice but in harming someone who dealt with this problem long before BG knew about it.

…seems to think that the matter has been dealt with; that the church and her father acted on her behalf — end of discussion. … thinks clergy sex crimes should be handled in-house instead of being reported to law enforcement. Let “God” clean up the crimes of preachers, right?

We said no such thing. We merely pointed out that the articles addressed the fact that the issue had been dealt with and the Pastor complied with the recommendations. We have no private information to say what specifically took place.

The hatred BG has for God, Jesus, and Christians influences his opinion which results in the nonsense quoted in that paragraph. We said nothing of the sort and it was up to the father and church officials to take action.

It is not up to us to demand something be done 40 years after the fact. Real justice does not produce the results these hate-filled people want to see. One has to be prepared for the backlash when it produces those just results.

In the end, … blames the victim, accusing her of being an opportunist:

We didn’t blame anyone. We just raised points that should be part of the issue and discussion. It is stupid and naive to assume that the woman is telling the truth or coming forward after all this time with pure in-heart motivation.

The fact that BG ignores these problems just provides evidence for everything we have said in Part One.

Explain to me how an alleged follower of Jesus can think this way? … will say I misquoted him

He may have quoted our words accurately but we do not know, we haven’t checked them. However, what distorts what we said is his very biased remarks. If he were honest and objective, he would write a lot differently than he did.

The Bible calls for people to love justice yet it is hard to love the type of justice one would receive from BG and all the people who side with him. We prefer to love God’s justice which is fair, honest, and without bias no matter what the results may be.
