I Don’t Hate God

This is a line in MM’s latest response to our content. It is also a line used by many unbelievers. They want to be seen and see themselves as good people. This is a phrase most Christians may hear at some point in time.

Yet, Jesus covered this topic in John 14:15 when he said:

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

We know that MM and others do not love God because they do not obey Jesus’ commandments. Their actions speak louder than their words in this case. We have seen many times where unbelievers who make this claim ignore what Jesus said to do in favor of their own personal views.

We are the victim of such behavior all the time, even from those who claim they do not hate God. But since they do not love God, hate is the only adjective that can be used to describe their attitude towards him and his followers.

The Bible goes on to say more about this point and those verses are as follows:

Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” (Jn. 14:21)

Jesus replied, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. (Jn. 14:23)

If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. (Jn. 15:10)

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome, (1 Jn. 5:3)

And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love (2 Jn. 1:6)

Obedience to God’s word, his instructions, and commands are essential for loving God. One of those commands is to do unto others as you would want to be treated; another is to do good to those who do evil; a third example would be to love mercy and provide God’s justice.

We do not see this in many people’s actions whether they are Christian or not. We see people fighting for their own ideas and ways. They think they are more moral than God even though their way has them killing people who can’t defend themselves nor have committed a crime.

An action they do not like God doing even though it was just and fair. In these cases, unbelievers use their own standards of morality, etc., instead of God even though their standards are vastly inferior to his.

If you love God you won’t listen to the wrong people and those wrong people can be anyone spreading non-christian views and thoughts. That would also include unbelieving scientists, college professors, teachers, adults, celebrities, and athletes.

If the believer is saying the wrong thing they are either not a believer, an immature one who needs better instruction, or a mature believer who needs correction in their doctrine. Teaching sound doctrine is a command of God and shows our love for him when we obey it.

Giving in to false teaching shows that we do not love God but hate him and his ways. When you love God, you do not advocate for or support abortion. Jer.7:6 says ‘ do not shed innocent blood’ and the OT is full of warnings about harming the innocent.

An unborn child has not even taken its first breath so it is nothing but innocent when it is killed through abortion. That makes abortion wrong and has people hating God because they did not obey his commands in this situation.

Obeying God goes beyond stopping abortion. We have to obey God in how we treat pro-abortion people if we are going to show love for Him. Pro-choice people need to treat pro-life people according to God’s commands if they do not hate God.

MM also said that we should stop whining about LGBTQ people, illegal immigrants, and similar sinners. Well, we can’t because those groups of people show no love for God in their illegal and sinful behavior.

Nor do those who support those groups. They are not showing love for God by helping people break the law and continue in their sins. We have advocated that the LGBTQ people be treated fairly but we do not support their sin by allowing them entry into the marriage institute, adopting children, or other benefits reserved for couples who do life right.

We have also advocated for Christians to help potential and current illegal immigrants by stopping their illegal behavior and going to their countries to make life better there. Those groups are not loving their neighbor as themselves as they rob their fellow citizens of needed resources, make them vulnerable to crime, and then create animosity and hatred for those illegal immigrants because they are doing immigration wrong.

Christians show love for God by getting those people back to their original countries and helping them obey the law not break it. We show love for God by correcting those sinful and wrong behaviors. We do not show it by helping them to sin.

We obey God’s commands correctly to show everyone our love for God and that he is worth following. Not obeying God’s commands sends the message that he is not worth following or obeying. That is the wrong message to send to anyone.

If you want love, then obey God’s commands. Don’t make excuses for disobedience.

  1. Use some common sense. The Bible says you cannot love two masters. You either hate one and love the other or vice versa.

God has said it first not us and if you want to go to extremes to twist words and play semantics then you are still hating God when you disobey and ignore his commands.. Love is obedience.
