As our final post for this internet session, we will return to this topic with a much shorter content than the previous one and remind everyone that what is talked about applies to all nations not just America. But since it is election season in American right now and its political candidates are talking about making their country great again, we will use that country’s name.
Psalm 82 has another ingredient in making a nation great and it says
God takes His stand in [a]His own congregation;
He judges in the midst of the [b]rulers.
2 How long will you judge unjustly
And show partiality to the wicked? [c]Selah.
3 Vindicate the weak and fatherless;
Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
4 Rescue the weak and needy;
Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They do not know nor do they understand;
They walk about in darkness;
The governments, the churches, the people should be adhering to this little advice. We all know of the stories that come our way about some unfortunate soul who has lost their home or savings to some greedy corporation or bank and we know how many in the legal system pervert justice and side with the corrupt and rich.
if America wants to be great again then it needs to balance the scales and become more fair, more honest, more just and so on than it claims to be and what we know takes place in reality.
I once had a friend who said that the Bible does not apply to businesses and governments but he was mistaken. Biblical instruction applies to all areas and walks of life including government and corporations. They do not get a free pass on what God has said for everyone to do.They are to humble themselves and implement God’s ways in their rule, not become arrogant and chart their own path.
One of the reasons why America has problems is because they have placed God on a shelf and try appease too many people.who do not want God governing their lives.The secular world has had over 200 years governing America and to show that they had a better way to rule but they have failed miserably. The secular way does not work and real change needs to be done in order to turn things around.
The church needs to set the example for others to follow for they are God’s representatives and the only way for the unbeliever to see God and that his ways work. Again the secular world ha failed the people and in some instances so has the church.
