The Source For Homosexuality

09 Mar

In his book, Red Letter Christians, Tony Campolo has this to say:

Along with a whole lot of shouting and condemnatory preaching about the matter, there is a great lack of knowledge on the subject. The truth is, nobody really knows the causes of homosexual orientation. (pg.89)

And this website and organization will disagree with him.. We really do know where homosexual orientation comes from and it is not of God. When God created humans he said:

Ge 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them…Ge 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good…Ge 2:24 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh

God did not create homosexuality nor did he call that orientation good. So if God did not originate the homosexual orientation then where did it come from? Paul gives us a clue when he says in Romans:

Ro 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned

and Peter clarifies this even further:

2Pe 1:4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires

then Paul brings it home with the following words:

Ro 1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another (all scripture taken from the NIV Pravis electronic edition)

We do know where the homosexual orientation comes from. it comes from the evil , the sin, and corruption that entered the world at Adam’s sin and perverted what God had called good. Homosexual orientation comes from evil not from God. If it was from God then Paul would not have written those words in Romans 1. We can see evidence to support this in the following news story:

The Christian owners of a Texas bakery who declined to bake a cake for a same-sex wedding earlier this year claim that an LGBT activist who was upset with their decision threatened to burn down their house and “violate” their son with a broken beer bottle.

We also see it in different threats and abusive actions done by the homosexual community and its supporters. if homosexuality was of God then these people would not respond in this manner We will also say the same thing about those people who claim to be Christian yet say and do sinful things simply because they disagree with what someone else said or did. We would doubt their claim of following Christ and tell them to do a soul-searching check to see where they actually stand with Jesus for such behavior is not of God.

But there is no doubt that the homosexual orientation does not have its roots or beginnings in God. There is no doubt that God did not make a homosexual a homosexual and as we quoted the other day

There is also widespread acceptance in the scientific community of the claim that the homosexual orientation is established so early in childhood that gay people have no remembrance of ever being other than they are. (pg. 89)

What we learn from this fact is not that homosexuals were born that way but that evil attacks when people are at their most vulnerable- when they know nothing and are incapable of defending themselves. We also learn that it is up to the parents to guide their children correctly instilling in them the right tools and how to properly handle those tools and keep their children from evil’s grasp. Praying for their children to keep them straight is not a bad thing but a vital step in protecting one’s child from destruction.

God gave children to parents and it is up to the parents to learn how to biblically correct in their handling of the issue their children face. Children should not be afraid to talk with their parents about anything and when a child brings up this issue, it should not be swept away with a wave of a hand or a short statement, ‘no you are not…’ Parents need to be properly equipped to handle these situations and by properly equipped I do not mean just opting for very bad advice from their pastors or denominations. They need to be sensitive, compassionate, wise, understanding and so on as well as knowing how to use those characteristics.

But loving a child who decides for the alternative does not mean a parent accepts, supports or allows it to take place in their home. In doing so the parent ends up not loving God as they disobey his commands on this and other sin issues. Love does not sin in its administration.

We could make a laundry list of all the bits and pieces of evidence that show that homosexuality is not of God but then we would have to apply that list to many who claim to be Christian yet do not walk as Jesus walked but the latter is not evidence that Christianity is not of God, it simply means that they are not practicing the faith as God designed it.

Homosexuality  and other sexual alternatives are perversions of the real love as we have shown above. Nothing in scripture or history tells us otherwise. In many of this website’s articles on homosexuality we have left out using Sodom and Gomorrah and their destruction out of the conversation for a variety of reasons. One being that those cities are over used but the purpose of their destruction also provides evidence that homosexuality is not of God as we read:

2Pe 2:6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example  of what is going to happen to the ungodly

Jude 1:7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns  gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire

These verses do not contradict Ezekiel which says:

Eze 16:49 How this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
Eze 16:50 They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen

The bold words ‘detestable things’ includes the sin of homosexuality and other sexual alternatives. There is no problem between these verses and as we see in the passage from Jude, sexual perversions is one of their crimes. We know that homosexuality is a perversion for God did not design marriage to be between the same sexes and he did not bless same-sex unions anywhere in the Bible.

Ge 1:27 So God created  man  in his own image,  in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Ge 1:28 God blessed them

Same sex unions were not a part of God’s plan for marriage or his creation. Nor were they considered good. At this point we will allow ourselves a little room to theorize based upon scant evidence. When God said:

Ge 6:5 The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time

We know that homosexuality was practiced by those humans and considered evil by God. For God made NO provisions for homosexuals to be on the ark. All the people who were saved were heterosexual couples. Homosexuality did not make the grade for salvation from the flood. No matter where you look, evidence to support the idea that homosexuality comes from or is approved by God is non-existent.

It is a product of evil and since we know its origins, we know how to deal with it. We have to do spiritual battles to save our children from being robbed of salvation and heaven. We cannot wait to save them until after God gives them over to their sinful desires for then that is basically too late for them to change back. we have to begin to deal with and handle this issue when our children are young. We need to train them correctly, give them defenses to ward off evil’s attempts to corrupt them and we need to do it wisely and the way God would want it done.

By not waiting we can spare many more people from this horrible life and their horrible eternal destination.
