Nuggets From The Epistles- 3

22 Nov

#1. Phm 1:14 But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that any favor you do will be spontaneous and not forced.

We need to respect other people and their boundaries. Freedom in Christ does not mean we do what we want to others and their possessions

#2. 1Pe 1:14 As obedient s children, do not conform  to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.
1Pe 1:15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

In other words give up the old ways and seek God’s

#3. 1Pe 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world,  to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.

Peter keeps repeating this so it is very important to follow

#4. 1Pe 2:15 For it is God’s will  that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.

Return good for evil

#5. 1Pe 3:17 It is better, if it is God’s will,  to suffer for doing good  than for doing evil.

We should make sure that what we call evil, is really evil

#6. 1Pe 4:18 And, if it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner??

our concern for them should be genuine not pretend

#7. 1Pe 4:19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will a should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

There is no instruction to stop doing good.
